The MARC Train, still running for individuals going to and from work during the pandemic, pulls into the train station in Old Town Kensington. Though technically not closed, the jungle gym at St. Paul Park in Kensington, MD is deserted during the pandemic. The Kensington Triangle Shopping Center, normally busy and bustling on weekend evenings, has been much emptier since the pandemic started. Most businesses have instituted limited operating hours and all require patrons to wear masks due to a Montgomery County ordinance. An outdoor trash can at the Kensington Triangle Shopping Center overflows with used gloves and masks from shoppers who shed them as they leave stores to return home.
During the ongoing health crisis, those who are most at risk tend to be the elderly population. While celebrating their granddaughter's graduation, Mr. and Mrs. Kim still try to follow social distancing by sitting at the end of the table. Although her daughter's college graduation was supposed to be today, Soo Kim is in high spirits as she tries to provide a party for her daughter's special day. With restaurants only serving pick up or delivery services, the Kim family could not stick with their original plan of dining at a nice restaurant for their oldest daughter's graduation. Although her commencement was canceled just weeks before it was set to take place, the recent University of Pittsburgh alumnus Cathy Kim tries to make the most of her situation and spend time with her family. College student Elijah Cordery receives a donation of masks for his mother who is an Intensive Care Unit nurse at the University of Pennslyvania Hospital.
