Week #3 -- Joy Saha
This evergreen tree, pictured right, used to be non-existent when my family and I first moved into our duplex apartment back in 2005. Now, in 2020, the tree is taller than our entire apartment and its insanely long branches are constantly scraping against our kitchen and living room windows.
My mother, Luna Saha, pulled out all her old baking books so that she could find a recipe for her go-to chocolate cupcakes and chocolate macarons. Both my mom and I are the primary bakers in our family however, it's been years since we opened up all these baking books. We now rely on YouTube and baking blogs for recipes.
This was a gluten-free waffle that I made for myself during breakfast on Tuesday. My 16-year-old brother, Kiron Saha, joked that my waffle looked a bit like the CDC's drawing of coronavirus. The more I look at this picture, the more I see the strange resemblance between the two.
Our three bedroom and two bathroom duplex apartment doesn't allow much office space for my father, Kalyan Saha. After working in the living room for the past couple of weeks, Kalyan Saha finally made a makeshift office inside his and Luna Saha's master bedroom. The small home office sits comfortably in between the room's bookshelf and dresser.
